This 7 days tour gives you an opportunity to have face to face interaction with man’s closest relatives (the chimpanzees) in the wilderness and also view a number of savannah fauna and flora in Uganda’s Lake Mburo and Queen Elizabeth National Parks. You will also view a number of birds and visit a local community at the famous Katwe village.

Day7-Transfer to Kampala
Day 1- Transfer to Kibale.
You will be met by African Wild Tours “representative /guide at your accommodation in Kampala for transfer to Kibale Forest in Kamwenge district. Be ready to pass tea plantations and other beautiful sceneries on your way to the forest. This evening, you may opt to go for a Bigodi swamp walk or just relax at your accommodation.

Day 2-Chimpanzee tracking
This morning, you wake up early and after a mighty breakfast, your guide leads you to the park headquarters from where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee tracking. You then move into the jungle with your packed lunch and of course with a tracking expert from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. This may last for between 45 minutes and 6 hours depending on where you will find the chimps. Having met them, you will be given a full hour with them. This is a lifetime experience and is likely to be one of the highlights of your safari. In the evening, you have an option of either visiting the crater lakes and the Top of the world or go birding in the Bigodi Wetland.

Day 3 Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park.
Having had enough rest, you will wake up on fine breakfast prepared by your camp and travel to Queen Elizabeth National park. This journey is through beautiful sceneries of tea farms and overlooks the Rwenzori. You enter the park and have lunch before going for an evening game drive.

Day 4 Queen Elizabeth National park
You wake up early, have an early morning game drive in search for wildlife and later have breakfast. You then go for a boat trip on the Kazinga channel also known as center of ecology. This water stream has the largest concentration of hippos in the world, over 1000 bird species including the; African fish eagle, blue turaco, herons pelicans, king fisher and so on. Wildlife includes; the Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, hippos, elephants, monitor lizards, warthogs, baboons, antelope species and so much more. This boat trip takes approximately 3 hrs. but is very rewarding in terms of wildlife and birds. You now check in your lodge for evening accommodation.

Day 5 –Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
You wake up at leisure, have breakfast and then visit the Katwe Salt lake. This lake has been in existence since the 16th century and is responsible for survival of many people leaving in the Katwe village. You will learn how the salt is mined from the salt pans and made3 ready for human use. You will then be transferred to Lake Mburo National Park for another wildlife adventure. On the way to your accommodation, expect to see large herds of zebras, impalas, eland, topi and so much more. This is the only park in Uganda where bike safaris, horseback riding, and walking safaris are allowed. So you have an option of viewing wildlife using any of the above options this evening.

Day 6 Lake Mburo Park
This day, you wake up very early intentionally for a morning game drive in search for wildlife. This is the only park in Uganda where you can spot large herds of impalas, topis and eland. It’s also the only park in western Uganda where you find zebras. You then go for a boat trip on Lake Mburo, have lunch and then another game drive. You may also go for other optional activities such as horseback riding, nature walks and so on.

Day 7 Transfer to Kampala.
After breakfast, you pack your luggage and travel back to Kampala having lunch on the way and a stop at the Equator village (Kayabwe). You will be dropped off to your desired destination in Kampala or Entebbe hence end of service.

A flying Air Balloon Safari in Queen Elizabeth can be arranged on request. (US Dollars 380 per person)

Chimpanzee tracking is not available for children below 16 yrs. However we can substitute it with another activity such as having a nature walk as the parents trek the chimpanzees. On this tour, you can remove the bits you do not want and add ones that you want to suit your budget and interest.
